2-17-09 building a MOW Crane for Cape Ann Rail.
Suleski Transportation was contracted to build a MOW crane for Cape Ann Rail.
ST # 1747, a GP-9, has switching duty today and brings a depressed center
flat car into the maintenance facility.
while a low boy trailer brings in the
crane that will be mounted.
Crews uncouple the depressed center flat car and set it into place.
ST paint crews start to convert the old Conrail blue depressed center flat into Cape Ann Rail black.
While the ST paint crews put on the finishing touches another ex Conrail
depressed center flat is brought in.
Crews will move on to the next
project which will be for Suleski Transportation's own MOW fleet.
ST MOW crews direct the switcher where to set the second flat.
Once the second flat is in place the breaks will be set
Crews have removed the treads and wheels from the crane and now using the
overhead gantry crane prepare to lift
the crane into place on the flat.
ST paint crews will touch up after the welding crews finish and then apply graphics.
Once the crane is in the right place it is welded and bolted onto the flat car.
ST paint crews finish applying the graphics. The name Eli is applied to the crane as he will be the Cape Ann Rail crane operator.
The crane is taken out on the siding and put through its paces to make sure everything works.
You'll have to check back later this week to see the next project.
